The Problem
Youth sports and cultural events have become increasingly out of reach for families in lower-income communities. While physical activity provides undeniable benefits such as improved health, academic performance, and emotional well-being, access to these opportunities is distributed unevenly. An entire industry has commodified youth sports, replacing free play with expensive, highly structured programs that demand thousands of dollars per year. This pay-to-play model locks out many talented and curious kids, taking away their chance to explore their interests, build confidence, and feel included among their peers.
Our Solution
Equitable Events removes these barriers by providing complimentary access to high-demand concerts, theater performances, and sporting events, along with scholarships for youth club sports, equipment, and sports-focused camps. By partnering with trusted youth development organizations, we extend opportunities to children who might otherwise be left on the sidelines. Our goal is simple: give every child, regardless of background, a chance to participate, explore, and thrive both on the field and in the stands.
Our Mission & Vision
Our mission is to level the playing field by democratizing access to sports and cultural experiences for underserved youth in Boston. We envision a future where no child is excluded from transformative opportunities because of financial barriers. We believe in fostering inclusion, building confidence, and inspiring passions that can shape a lifetime. By creating more equitable access today, we are helping cultivate healthier, more engaged, and more empowered communities tomorrow.
I’ve never been that close to a stage before!
When the lights came on and Taylor Swift started singing, I couldn’t stop smiling — it felt like she was singing right to me.
– Lila, Age 12 (Taylor Swift concert, Gillette Stadium)
The Celtics game was awesome!
I got to see Jayson Tatum dunk in real life — it was so loud, my ears were ringing but I didn’t care. I’m definitely trying out for basketball next year.
– Marcus, Age 13 (Boston Celtics game)
SZA waved at our section!
I screamed so loud my mom laughed at me. I’m going to start writing songs now — maybe one day I’ll be up there too.
– Ariana, Age 11 (SZA concert, Boston)
The Red Sox game was my first time in Fenway Park.
I got to eat a hot dog, catch a foul ball, and see the Green Monster! I didn’t want the game to end.
– Jayden, Age 10 (Boston Red Sox game)
Upcoming Events & Scholarships
According to Statista and their National Fan Index (NFI), which strives to calculate the cost of taking a family to an NFL game, an average family of four would need to spend over $800 U.S. dollars to attend a game (non-premium seats).

Got Questions? We’ve got answers!
How will I know if my child has been awarded tickets or a scholarship they they’ve applied for?
Raffles for tickets and scholarships are open for a finite period of time before winners are selected on a predetermined, disclosed date. We communicate with raffle participants, as well as winners and losers of raffles, consistently, so you will always know where you stand.
How are raffle winners and losers for tickets or scholarships ultimately determined?
While Equitable Events would love to award tickets and scholarships to all raffle participants, it’s not practical or realistic. So raffle winners are selected randomly, while making sure that no single raffle participant randomly wins a disproportionate number of times.
Can my son or daughter participate in a raffle more than once to enhance the odds of winning?
No, the spirit of all raffles is “random fairness”. Attempting to participate in the same raffle more than once to disproportionately enhance the odds of winning violates the spirit of what we are aiming to accomplish. So in short, we don’t allow it.
We’ve tried to participate in a raffle but we are getting a message that we are ineligible. Why?
Likely because you recently won another raffle. To assure that as many kids as possible get awarded tickets or scholarships, recent winners are temporarily blocked from participating again.
Can we re-sell tickets that we recently won in a raffle?
While there is no absolute mechanism for Equitable Events to prevent re-sale of tickets, it violates the spirit of what we aim to accomplish. To minimize re-sale, raffle winners and tickets to events are typically awarded within 24 hours of the event date.
If we win a raffle with tickets to an event but something comes up and we can’t go, can we give the tickets to friends?
We understand that things come up and plans change, but if you can’t attend or use the tickets for your own benefit, we ask that you give them back to Equitable Events so that we can award them to another deserving kid who can go.
Can my child participate in a raffle, win, and attend an event without parental consent?
No, to assure that parents are always “in the know”, a parent must always approve participation in a raffle, a parent is always notified when their child is a winner, and a parent must “accept” tickets before tickets are actually transferred/delivered.
If my child wins a scholarship to a club sports team, are they guaranteed to make the team?
No, Equitable Events will “award”the scholarship, will alert the club of the winner, but your child must earn a spot on the team based on performance and merit. This is likely accomplished through a club tryout, and if your kid is awarded a roster spot, we then transfer club fees directly to the club.
We don’t see a specific event that we believe kids would really like to attend - why don’t you have it? Or, we don’t see a scholarship to a specific club sports team that we are really interested in. Or, we are really in need a specific piece of equipment.
While at Equitable Events we do our best to understand and satiate the demand of our users, we can’t think of everything. You don’t see a posted raffle for a really big upcoming concert? Your daughter needs new ballet shoes for her next big recital? Please get in touch with your request or suggestion at [email protected]
If my child is awarded a club sports scholarship and makes the team, do we have to rely upon randomly winning a scholarship each and every year to pay for ongoing club fees?
No, once your child wins a club sports scholarship, and earns a spot on the club, Equitable Events will work with the club in question to assure annual club fees are covered for your child on a go-forward basis.
